I am a 30 year old woman who has had several vaso-vagal reactions. I have panic attacks, but like I read, this could not compare. Two of the reactions occured while I was pregnant; one with my first child, the second with my third. My blood pressure skyrocketed, I felt like I was going crazy, as if I wanted to crawl out of my skin, I could taste metal in my mouth, then I started to fell as though I was going to pass out. The other time was when I was at the dentist, I literally couldn't pull myself together because I was so dizzy and confused. I do not have a fear of needles. I have never had a reaction when blod is drawn, only with IVs or when something is being injected. A nurse at the hospital told me it is the way the person administers the shot or IV. I think she might have something, because two of my reactions happened when the nurse was fishing around for my vain, these resulted in severe bruising of my arms. When she gave me the shot a few hours later and after I was already terrified, I was fine, she was very experienced.
