Hi. I am 26 years old living in the UK and have been diagnosed with vaso vagal syncope. I have just started taking midadrine after 3 years of attacks. Unfortunately my attacks were severe and were mistaken for epilepsy for a number of months. I have been batted about between cardiology, neurology etc for 3 years. Just read your article (Mary) and felt i needed to reply because i felt very alone in my conditions due to the disruption it causes your life. I am an engineer and was working offshore on the oil/gas platforms in the sea until this began but cannot do that anymore. Not being able to drive is awful also and i also fear the fact that i live alone.

This web site is not a substitute for a thorough medical evaluation and diagnosis of your vaso-vagal type symptoms.  Medical treatment and diagnosis is the only acceptable initial response to these serious symptoms since they might present from any number of life threatening and treatable illnesses. It is for you and your physician to rule out more serious illnesses; Please don't use this online forum as an alternative to getting responsible medical attention and being under the care of a physician for the duration of any unknown, suspected or dangerous vaso-vagal syndrome symptoms.
