Vaso-Vagal Syncope

My dad (52yrs) was just diagnosed with a severe case of VVS. He passed out while driving home from work, LUCKILY no one was hurt from that. Anyways they did several tests on his brain and his brain waves, including all the heart tests. The last test was the tilt test and he was out within 9 seconds, he flatlined, so they immediately set up for a pacemaker to be inserted. I have a few questions of my own: 1. Is it hereditary, cause I have an irregular heart beat now at 26 yrs? 2. Does taking Aleive or Naproxen slow down your heart rate? 3. Is the number one symptom stress or anxiety? Thanks for posting this site.
