vagal reation to i.v.

hi. does anyone know the difference btwn having vasal-vagal "syndrome" and having a few episodes, or is there no real difference? today, while getting an i.v. before a cat scan, i had what the doctor on call told me was a "vagal reaction"--i got dizzy and the room started to spin, i was nauseous, couldn't form words, and i was sweating profusely. to keep me from passing out, the doctor put me on a stretcher, and then i got very cold, started shivering uncontrollably and my teeth were chattering, and the doctor covered me with blankets and took my blood pressure. when the attack first started, i remembered having two similar episodes, years earlier, when i had smoked a certain kind of pot as a teenager. does anyone know how these attacks are related, and what is causing them? thanks.
