Vasovagal and my 17 year old

A week before Xmas I got a call from school, daughter had passed out and hit her head in health class. I took her to doctor because of the head hit. This was a friday and then sent her for EEG, they said EEG showed some abnormal activity that might have been seizure. They put her on dilantin. Then she had a CAT scan and that was normal. She did this once before a year ago when having blood drawn. More information came to light since, my sister in law suffers with vasovagal reaction. My daughter said she knows when this is happening, usually after gym class or tennis, the one time I witnnessed was after having a viral thing for a week. she also describes the same symptoms my sisterin law gets. I am dissatified with the effect Dilantin has on her. We did not see our primary care physician for this(holiday he was gone). I feel I should call him and take her in, the other doctor is not being to sympathic about the dilantin making my daughter tired, sometime weak and very slow speech. Has anyone else ever been put on dilantin and not needed it? Help
