vasavagal syncope

i have passed out only once, easter monday 2003. for about 3 weeks before this i went to see my doctor a few times about dizzy spells i was having. nothing was really diagnosed at the time and even after my faint it was about 3 months before a specialist put a name to my illness. for those first 3 months i could not walk 100 yards to the shop but gradually i managed to even though some days i was as bad as i had ever been. i was given a tabelt called mididrin which made me ill and then fludrocortisone which for a while seemed to have it cured though now it does come back now and then. i have to say it mainly comes back when i am under stress which unfortunately is often. during those initial 3 months i never drove but have since. when i am driving, which is something i love to do, i am very content and laid back and so have never thought about giving it up though i would if i started having spells of dizziness. i also believe that had i been able to describe my illness better i would have probably been diagnosed earlier. all the time i was telling people i was dizzy when really i was approaching a faint. i dont expect to recover from it until both my teenage step daughters have left home for university.
