Bill, I have the same problem!!!!! For most of my life I have been wrongly treated for low blood sugar, but everytime I had one of these episodes, I had to "go", too. Now I have made the deffinite connection, and know we are not crazy. It is well doccumented in the medical community that straining to have a BM can cause the vaso vagal response (as it is called). This happens to me even when I don't strain, and I have a loose one (I know, this is so gross. I am a registered nurse, so I am used to topics like this.) For a while I wondered if there was something in my bowels, like a tumor, that caused this as the stool passed. Now that I know someone else has this same experience, I can rule that out (thanks for being so candid). This also happens to me if going up and down the stairs, has happened in my sleep. I have never passed out though. Jean

This web site is not a substitute for a thorough medical evaluation and diagnosis of your vaso-vagal type symptoms.  Medical treatment and diagnosis is the only acceptable initial response to these serious symptoms since they might present from any number of life threatening and treatable illnesses. It is for you and your physician to rule out more serious illnesses; Please don't use this online forum as an alternative to getting responsible medical attention and being under the care of a physician for the duration of any unknown, suspected or dangerous vaso-vagal syndrome symptoms.
