I am 31 years old and was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with VV. I have had VV "episodes" dating back as far as 8 years old. On average, I only have 3 episodes per year. I am now taking a beta blocker and hope to eliminate these altogether...

I have been out on medical leave for the past 3 weeks because my last episode happened while I was driving. I am going back to work in a week or so and am up for a promotion. The position requires weekly air travel.

What I would like to know is:

Is this permanent? Does it ever just go away? Can I travel via airplanes like any other person? In the future, can I expect a more difficult pregnancy because I have VV? Is this a purely "physical" disorder or is it also "mental" (in other words, is my brain making this happen which therefore means I can stop it?) What is the literal translation of the words "Vaso", "Vagal" and "Depressor"?

I hope someone is willing to tackle these questions. It's a shame...but my Dr didn't seem to know very much about VV nor did he seem to think that it was of any importance to be diagnosed with it.

Thanks for the help! Carmen
