It has been interesting reading the various descriptions of syncope as experienced by posters on this site. My first episode occurred in March 2003, while recuperating from pneumonia. Onset was precipitated by a sudden coughing experience. I went from standing to prone (hard fall) on the deck in less that 5 seconds. I've since had four more episodes, each following rapid onset of coughing. I've had all the tests but nothing conclusive no results that point to anything that can indicate a specific treatment regimen. My attacks have occurred after 5-6 p.m., so I don't drive after late afternoon. Unlike some others who have posted here, I have high blood pressure (controlled) and have an unusually high heart rate. There needs to be more clinical research into this phenomenon.
