I can tell you that as a teen, it is really embarassing. The best thing for me was to understand what was happening (that I wasn't crazy), and try to take control. I would always lay down during needles, and stay down for a while after. When I started to learn the triggers, I could avoid them or sometimes control what would happen (lay down immediately when I cut myself, etc). Only the person going through it knows themselves. Encourage them to admit what is happening, and take comtrol. It may get worse as they get older, it may never happen again. You do the best with what you got. Be careful when driving!
