Re: Recurrent VVS and Zoloft

No doctor has ever suggested I take an antidepressant (if that's what Zoloft is). I must say that I'm MUCH older than your 24-year old boy friend. The first time I recall having a really bad episode was after I had stopped smoking for several months and then had a couple of drags and went into a major sweating/freezing/fainting episde. Then I just thought it was the effect of smoking tobacco after a period and lay down and slept and didn't tell anyone about it. Looking back it was definitely one of the so-called vaso vegal episodes. (I have smoked since then and have not had an episode so obviously there were other triggers involved at that time). All the doctors I've seen up to now (including one of hte top cardiologists in NYC) told me I have to learn to live with it and just make sure I lie down at the first sign of an attack. I'm still pursing it though - obviously....hence my being on this web site.

It is for you and your physician to rule out more serious illnesses; Please don't use this online forum as an alternative to getting responsible medical attention and being under the care of a physician for the duration of any unknown, suspected or dangerous vaso-vagal syndrome symptoms.
