It does sound like vasovagal syncope to me, even though you aren't actually fainting. I do actually pass out, but everything else sounds similar. I get hot flashes, sweaty & clamy, nausea, short of breath, then I pass out. When I come to, I usually have to go to the bathroom ( quickly!) and often throw up. It's also called neurocardiogenic syncope - so you might look that up too in your research.
