hi maggie it,s angie ,the episodes of waking up and feeling hot sick etc is the vagus nerve being over stimulated ive had several night attacks the same ,ifound that not overeating or not at all after 7pm helped as the vagus nerve is also connected to the digestive system.iuse to eat sometimes late at nightthen go to bed soon after ,also ihave been on propranolol for 2yrs which has helped alot with the palpatations no side affects what so ever.also iknow its hard but when an attack occurs after waking up the slower you get up the least harsher the attack i,ve found because it prevents the blood pressure crashing so quick .it,s avery scary feeling to go through nite attacks the lower u keep down in the bathroom also the slower you get up to get to the bathroom the better even though its hard not to when this happens ihope this helps goodluck angie
